This 1932 Ford Highboy Roadster is true old school
The flame-kissed paint, tuck-and-roll interior, and flathead V8 power are all there so you can truly enjoy the classic hot rod experience.
Vintage hot rod style meets a more modern fiberglass body on this roadster. That’s a desirable combination where you know you have a younger/lighter body that is more resistant to corrosion. And it still keeps steel in the right places, like the engine side panels. It all makes for a straight body that loves to show off all the custom paint work. The glossy black creates a great canvas for the artful custom flame package. It starts consuming the front end with a yellow-hot look that fades into red as it burns down the body. It’s a true classic hot rod paint job, and the rest of the car reinforces the look, too. You see it in the deleted fenders, whitewall tires, two-piece wheel trim, steeply raked windshield, and the cool side exhaust pipes.
The interior is done in a vibrant red that really keeps the old school feeling going. After all, you have a great tuck and roll pattern that’s not only on the wraparound seat, but also the side panels, firewall, and carpet inserts. You have the right modern features, like seatbelts and a comprehensive VDO gauge package. But really, nothing gets in the way of the vintage feeling. That’s why you have the Ford dual-spoke wheel and the skull sitting at the end of the classic three-speed column shifter.
The fiberglass forward tilt hood makes for a great way to showcase the motor, and it’s always great to see classic Ford flathead power in a Highboy. This 221 cubic-inch V8 keeps the hot rod look going with the Grancor ribbed head covers and dual single-barrel carbs sitting on top. But this is also built to be a better driver, and that’s why you have a 12-volt electrical system and an electric cooling fan mounted in front of the radiator. The motor loves to fire up with the cool flathead sound out of the dual exhaust. Plus, there are cutouts up front any time you want to bring some real hot rod thunder. This also has the right suspension details to be both vintage and useful. The front is a polished four-link, and you have adjustable coilovers in the rear.
This is the iconic Highboy done right.
