This steel-bodied 1931 Ford 5-window coupe is a full custom build that includes awesome paint, an awesomely clean undercarriage, four-wheel disc brakes, and plenty more custom touches. But what makes this a truly awesome street machine is the fuel-injected 590-horsepower beast living under the hood. Oh yeah, this is one powerful coupe!
You know this one is a serious hot rod from the moment you lay eyes on it. Fit and finish is spectacular on this steel-bodied car. The orange paint provides a super-slick shine that highlights the curves of the body and immediately commands attention. This was built to look like it didn’t even need fenders or bumpers, and so you can get a clear view to the well-integrated color-matched frame and those wide racing-style rear wheels. So while most hot rods need a ton of brightwork, this one is already bold enough. That’s why the polished elements are just nice and proper accenting on places like the front suspension, headlights, and waterfall grille. You can really tell this is a thoughtfully built custom, even in the details, like the flush-mounted gas cap, LED taillights, and frenched license plate. Plus, there’s an awesome full pinstriping package encircling the car that’s signed by the artist.
The interior is built for speed and style. Dual black bucket seats are nicely contoured. This goes with the rest of the blackout on the carpeting, headliner, and textured door panels. The exterior orange returns on the dash as well as the roll bar in the rear for some sporty style and coordination. The windshield still tilts forward like a proper classic Ford, but the sides and rear one are both powered for added convenience and plenty of breeze through the coupe. While this all looks quite nice, let’s not forget this is a big power machine. That’s why you have upgrades like a Lokar shifter with line lock on the stalk, a wood-rimmed sports steering wheel on a tilt column, and a large AutoMeter tach right in front of you.
This one has a clean and mean powerhouse that you want to make sure is always on display. 501 cubic-inch Ford big block. This was built with Trick flow aluminum heads, a custom crank, custom hydraulic flat tappet cam, chromoly pushrods, roller rockers, headers, and topped with fuel injection. Plus, it has hardy supporting components, like an electric fuel pump, billet pulleys, a gear reduction starter, an aluminum water pump, and an aluminum radiator w/electric fan. This is a monster total package that produces 590 HP and 600 lb ft of torque…and we have the dyno sheet to prove it! A stout C6 three-speed automatic transmission feeds a Ford 9-inch rear to get the power to the ground. And there’s proper control with an upgraded A-arm front suspension, ladder bars in the rear, adjustable coilovers, and four-wheel power disc brakes.
This is the kind of total build that can win awards just as much as it can win drag races.
