This may be one of the most unique Rat Rods in the country. It is an old school build as a tribute to hot rod and custom car builder Ed Roth from the 1960’s. This car is know as “Rat Fink” which is the character that Ed Roth created . There are many hand painted cartoons and graphics on the body and in the engine compartment. Truly is a rolling piece of pop art and is always a big attention getter a cruise nights and car shows.
Its is titled as a 1966 Chevy yet the body is allegedly from a 1930 era Maxwell which had sold to Ford.
The motor is a fresh rebuild, 283 chevy V-8 and the numbers indicate that it is from a 1957 Chevy. The motor starts on one click and roars to life with open headers and a 6 pack. It idles perfectly and when you gas it it sounds amazing with no oil smoke.
The trans is three speed automatic that shifts smoothly and flawlessly. I did notice that the trans has a small leak and I have put fluid in it once in a while.
The headlights, speedo and fire engine siren all work !
There is also a AM/FM CD player and the sound is actually pretty good and can be heard clearly over the engine rumble.
It has 4 wheel disc brakes and she stops great and does not pull in any direction.
The steering is manageable however it can be firmed up as I see the the U-Joint to the steering box can be tighten up.. just havent gotten around to it. She is very happy at 30-40 mph and can do more if need be. I have never had it on the highway as I enjoy puttering around town on errands and going to cruise nights.
The tires are Coker and pretty new and fresh.
