This 1929 Ford Model A Tudor is a full steel body sedan, but you can instantly see this is far more than a classic cruiser
With plenty of V8 power, a five-speed upgrade, sleek paint, upgraded suspension, and a custom interior, this is a very cool street machine that has been given attention in all the right places.
The tudor sedan had the unmistakable look that reminds us of the dawn of America on wheels. So it already gets impressive nods when a steel-body classic like this gets upgraded into a full custom build. But they also like to be mindful of history.
For example, the brown paint captures the right tone of the 1920s. But the gloss and depth the finish radiates let everyone know it’s much more modern. The windshield overhang, vinyl roof, black body accents, and bright grille all carry that classic Model A style, too. There’s even the classic goose hood ornament leading the way. But there’s also no mistaking this is a true hot rod. But they just make the alternations with care. The frame is painted black so it takes the place of the deleted running boards. And the cycle fenders up front help keep a classic silhouette. Orange wheels were part of the classic Model A style, and so they kept the spirit alive, but now with 15-inch steelies and extra-wide rear rubber. They even included the matching orange pinstripe. And the hood may just be the best way to show off how vintage and modern merge. It fits flush to keep the classic line, but now it has a louvered style, and you can remove the leather straps any time you want to put that awesome motor on full display (more on that in a moment.)
Inside is a full custom interior that showcases nearly a century’s worth of progress in comfort. There are front bucket seats that have plenty of bolstering for all-day driving ease. They are trimmed in ultraleather with attractive cloth inserts. And the rear seats and side panels were trimmed to match. There are some nice comfort upgrades, including an AM/FM digital tuner with stereo speakers. And while the windshield still pops out for ventilation, this also has provisions for modern R134a air conditioning (it likely just needs a recharge to blow cold again.) It’s easy for you to get comfy thanks to the custom dual-spoke steering wheel on a tilt steering column, Hurst floor shifter, and dash dominated by the full gauge package, including speedo and tach.
You’ll love to put this motor on full display. It’s an ultra-tidy setup, plenty of polished components, and it even has a color-matched Caddy air grabber. At the center is a hardy 350 cubic-inch V8 upgraded with an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock intake, and shorty headers. And the upgraded cam makes for nice power and helps give the dual exhaust a terrific sound. This is also supported by the right components, including an MSD distributor, braided lines, an electric fan, and a serpentine belt system. It’s a strong-running package, and the upgrade to a five-speed manual transmission really puts you in the center of the action. The suspension is a proper hot rod setup with hairpins and disc brakes in the front. Plus, in the rear, you have ladder bars, adjustable coilovers, and a cool Frankland Racing diff.
This is the thoughtfully done hot rod with plenty of extra creature comforts, too.
